Adaptation Planning Methodology and Adaptation Programme

(with Urban Intelligence and Traverse)

We use sophisticated spatial risk analysis to understand climate impacts across the Far North in order to prioritise locations for adaptation planning. We also draw on best practice to develop a local methodology for council to support the development of adaptation pathways plans with communities, hapu/iwi and stakeholders.

Flood Adaptation Strategy

(with BECA)

We developed a systematic, evidence based approach to understanding the risks of flooding now, and into the future with climate change. The strategy provides NRC a way to identify a wide range of integrated flood risk management actions across the business. It has been successful in supporting funding applications and helped secure nearly $5M in government funding.

Adaptation Planning Guidance Panel

One of six lead authors developing national guidance to support organisations to develop and implement adaptation plans, including using adaptive pathways approaches. The guidance will provide consistency and clarity to an increasingly necessary approach to co-designing ways to address the risks of climate change with communities.

Carbon Sequestration Advice

We provided technical advice to support a business case for purchasing a property with significant potential for sequestration in kauri forest. Our analysis translated scientific projections of sequestration to estimate the property's value in enabling a potential buyer to reach net-zero emissions targets.
